About me:
I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for my undergraduate degree. Yes, I'm a proud Husker fan even though it's been a rough few years! Have you heard of our volleyball team? They are pretty amazing! I earned my Masters in Reading from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. My goal is to help all students be able to read well and support any areas where students may struggle. I have done extensive research in reading strategies targeted for struggling middle school and high school readers and presented my research at the Nebraska State Reading Convention.
I have been teaching English for 23 years this school year. WOW! It's hard to believe as it feels like it was just yesterday when I began. Throughout my career, I have taught both middle school and high school in Omaha and North Platte, Nebraska, as well as, in Holly Springs (suburb of Raleigh), North Carolina. As our moving adventures continue, I am elated to have landed in Fort Collins and at Rocky Mountain High School. It is truly a blessing to be part of such a caring community that lives its mission daily through honoring self, purpose, and place. The scenery is pretty amazing too!
My husband and I have been married for 25 years this last summer. Together, we are constantly trying to juggle practices, games, and performances for our two amazing children. While they keep us busy, they also keep us grounded in what is important in life. I love every minute that I get to spend with my family and cherish any time we have together. As a family, we enjoy playing board games, doing puzzles, riding bikes, hiking (though not all of us enjoy this part, but they do it for me as I love to be out in nature), playing soccer, tennis, pickleball, and volleyball, watching movies, etc. It's about making the most of every moment we have together!
